Anthony Fiala

There is an exhibition at The Stamford Museum & Nature Center (until October 30) entitled Last Frontiers: Anthony Fiala and the Race to the North Pole. Anthony Fiala was a man of many talents: soldier, photographer, artist and explorer. The most famous expedition he was part of was Theodore Roosevelt’s expedition to the River of Doubt which was a tributary of the Amazon River. The trip was an arduous one which broke Roosevelt’s health and brought him to the brink of suicide.

Danbury Museum in the Streets

In September 2010 the Danbury Museum in the Streets project was unveiled. Its purpose is ” a walking tour created to foster a sense of historical identity, educate, and encourage preservation of local historic sites while promoting the knowledge of the stories, events and traditions that shaped our community.” It is now time for Phase Two of this project. It will be introduced at City Hall at noon Thursday October 13 on the front lawn. New panels include sports, the circus, immigration, farming, notable citizens and industry. Be on the lookout for these new panels around town.
